Support often becomes more important after the funeral crowd leaves. The first days may be full of relatives, visitors and arrangements. When everyone goes home, ordinary tasks remain.

Help with transportation

Offer to take visiting relatives to the airport or help with an errand. Ask what would be useful and agree on a time.

Check in after the visitors leave

A short call or a planned visit several days later can give someone a chance to talk—or simply have company. Let the family choose whether a visit feels welcome.

Bring food that makes the day easier

Ask about preferences, dietary needs and what is already arriving. A meal in a container that does not need to be returned can spare another task.

Offer something specific

“I can pick up groceries on Thursday. Would that help?” is easier to answer than “Call me if you need anything.” Make the offer easy to accept or decline.

Keep in touch later

A card, a brief message or another invitation weeks and months later says the person has not been forgotten. Follow through on what you offer. These acts do not fix grief; they can make an ordinary day less difficult to manage.
